Hey, Les!
Sorry it didn't even occur to me you had actual forums. With good people posting, too!
Geez, now this old geezer feels like a newb. ;D

Hi Velsper,
Nice to hear from you. Whenever I start feeling like an OMG Know-It-All I run across one of your posts and realize just how little I actually know.
Um, if you'd like Sylvester instead of Garfield, I'll freely relinquish him to you.

Um, if you'd like Sylvester instead of Garfield, I'll freely relinquish him to you. Nah, I prefer Garfield. It's a personality thing. ;D Thanks for the offer, though. And BTW, I find myself referencing your summaries quite often to check up on my facts when I'm posting. Just cross checked something with your manga timeline yesterday, in fact. We overanalyzers have to stick together!

Hello again, Mr. TheCat,
I got to thinking today and started wondering if your vast knowledge of all things goddess or equally extensive roster of friends and associates within the community might be able to help me with a couple of small matters involving Oh/Ah My Goddess trivia. (I love that kinda talk.) Both of these involve things that were in the original manga and were probably left out of their translation by Dark Horse for clarity's sake.
What I'm asking is, if you might have access to the original Japanese versions of these chapters, or at least know someone who does and can read them. If so, if I ask very nicely could you look up a couple things that I haven't been able to really resolve on my own?
Pretty Please?
With Sushi?
First, in the November 1989 Kodansha chapter 15, vol. 2, Gakuensai no Joen wa watashi desu (Dark Horse, issue Manga Mania 13, TPB-3, I'm the Campus Queen) there is a scene about two thirds through where Urd is getting a clue for the campus queen contest from a booth that seems devoted to sea slugs. (She's even got one in a baggy on her wrist.)
My question is, what is the original wording on the booth's signs, particularly do they have any connection to the Sea Slug Society posters in the movie and by the girl's locker room in Dark Horse issue 111, Sora Unchained, part 7, The Race Gets Hot, A Goddess Gets Hotter! (Kodansha, January 1999, chapt. 125, Vol. 20, The Race Begins! Goddess Acts Too!) Not exactly earth shattering, but it's been bugging me.
Second, in the June 1993 Kodansha chapter 58, vol. 10, Let's Go Have Fun! (August 1998 Dark Horse, issue V-11, TPB-10, Play The Game) there is a scene where Belldandy tries to rally the team after they've been pretty badly whomped by holding a bat. The Dark Horse dialogue doesn't really fit the scene, which according to Mr. Chang over at Nekomi Kodai involves the sound effect "Baaato", somehow a pun involving the bat she's holding.
My question is what is your opinion of what this scene is really saying. (re- what's the joke?) I kinda figured out an answer for this before and posted it on the Dark Horse forum, but I'm still not sure I got it right.
So, I'd really appreciate it if you could help me out here.
And whether you can or not, I'm offering to send you a copy of my current, updated, timeline for your reference needs if you'd like one. Just tell me how to get it to you.
