Concerning the "insights on the movie" article

Hi, everyone. I just joined and I hope to be a good member of the forums. Let me begin with this question, I originally emailed a form of it to the writer of the said article, but have recieved no reply and so hope to get some perspective on it here.

Let me start by saying I am very impressed with what
was put together, and the many storyline/timeline
references that were found in the movie that can help fanfic writers like me and who want to make a AMG fanfiction that includes the movie as part of the series' reality, or for curious fans in general.

However, there is one area I have a problem with. In
the discussion on Morgan Le Fay's lover, various
inferences are made on him being a bard because of his
lute/harp, and based on this is further inference that he could possibly be a version of the mythological/legendary character Myrridan. However, I own the art book "The Field of Goddess" that was released for the movie, and it includes a in-focus image of this man from various angles.

Unless I'm mistaken, his "lute" is just a staff that is curved a bit on one end. There are no strings, nor any
attachment points for strings as far as I can tell,
and after browsing through many pictures of ancient
harps and lutes, I can't find any that remotely
resemble what he was carrying.

So while I agree he was likely meant to be an ancient
Celt or something similar, I don't see evidence for
him being a bard. Is it possible he was meant to
merely be just an average guy like Keiichi, who
carried a staff as many did in those days for defense
and other things? However, if any of you know something about this that I don't I'd be happy to hear it as I'm making a story on the movie Morgan's backgrond and would like it to be as true to the movie as possible.

I got everything in that entry from another forum, like I said. And the picture I could see in the movie seemed to back up what they had said. I also looked up Myyriden (or however I spelled it) and used what I found to flesh out the background information.

It's not likely a fairy would fall for an average clod, it would take someone with a special soul, even if they were just a normal person otherwise. Somehow bards, sorcerers, and other artists, and fairys seem to go together. I guess its the otherworldliness in their souls that would attract the fey folk.

As far as I'm concerned, and with the actual information I have to hand, you can call him what ever you want.
(Just don't call him Shirly)

P.S. Don't discount traditional Chinese and Japanese stringed instruments, many of which were very slender.
I'm not saying that's what it is, just a possibility.

P.P.S. It could also be a recorder or flute of some exotic sort.

Given that this forum has fairly little traffic and I visit many forums, I decided not to visit this one every day, thus I only now read this message. Also contributing to this was that I apparently neglected to checkmark to be notified fo replies to this topic.

Thank you for the reply, I think I'll post a picture of Morgan's lover from the book once I get a chance to scan it, just for clarity so everyone knows what I'm talking about. I'll look up Japanese

One wonders if the book "Field of Goddess" contains any info on the background of this character, who he was supposed to be and such. However, I'd probably need several years of study to read it myself. ;D

I'm not sure if I should have made this new reply or just modified my previous post, but since it has been several days since I last posted here I decided to make a new reply. Anyway below is the link to a image I scanned of Morgan's lover from the book "Field of Goddess" so you can all see what I mean by how it is hard to beleive that object strapped behind him is any kind of stringed instrument. If anyone wants to use the admittedly somewhat poor image (I'll have to remember to try higher resolution scans, though the image is small to begin with and it may not matter) feel free to. Credit matters not though it is appreciated.
