I'm in it for the romance so I want to see to say loads of that.
I'll be all over the fansubs on this one when it's released, but I gotta feeling this will be licensed before it has even aired.

The feel I'm getting from what little information I've found is that they're going to follow the same pattern that was used for "You're Under Arrest." The OAVs for that series were revisions of the first mangas also, with more back story and character development in them. Using the OAVs as the first eight (I think) episodes for TV, they then filled the rest of the first season with plots from the earlier part of the manga in roughly their release order. When that proved successful on TV, a second and third series was run, using both manga plots and new stories, along with summer specials and finally the movie.
While Oh/Ah! My Goddess has a lot more material to work with, you must realise that a lot of the shorter story arcs can be compressed into a single TV episode, while other story arcs would be perfect for the longer summer specials, which would remove them from the episode pool. So the nearly 200 chapters may yield only half that many TV shows.
Monitarily speaking, it would be advisable to try for 2 or 3 TV seasons (perhaps spaced out like they did with You're Under Arrest) and finish with another movie, which could be tied in with the end of the manga.
Just my thoughts on the matter.

I dunno... a few people have shown interest in the Lord of Terror arc.. I'd also like to see Demon/Goddess Urd arc (I'm not sure if there's a specific name for it). Showing the karaoke battle between Marller and Urd would be very amusing.^^

Guess I'll be a perfect addition to your and Luffy's crew then as I've got nothing that hasn't been scanlated, fansubbed or downright ripped.
Wish I had money to buy at least the DVDs though as watching on TV would be really great instead of staring at my monitor.

So it seems that it won't be a continuation of the OAV but rather a more direct translation of the manga into the anime? While I love the OAV, this pleases me for several reasons. Aside from ones that have already been mentioned (the battles, the romance) I'll add some details to things I hope for/look forward to. While it is in no way certain what will end up in the anime from the manga and what won't, these are my speculations and hopes after all.
One thing I would most look forward to is seeing various early manga events done with more current art styles. Many of the best scenes of these early chapters are ruined a bit when you see how, to put it bluntly, "ugly" everyone looks compared to their later tried and tested refined forms.
I mean can you imagine a more up-to-date Urd in her Lord of Terror outfit?
How about a Megumi who won't look like a bug-eyed freak in her first apeparences?
How about an older Skuld who won't look at plain as she did in the chapters where she aged rapidly?
On romance, it'd be wonderful to see scenes like Keiichi and Belldandy's first kiss or the "against the tree kiss" done with their modern looks. The only image we have of a on-the-lips kiss between the two in their more advanced art styles is that one in the OAV. It would just be more beautiful.
*imagines the battle between Rind/Lind and the Angel Eater in an animated form* ;D

*new here*
I just hope that the show will be able to get many fans regardless of having read the mangas!
for me, the OVAs weren't even so good...then i read the mangas (scanlated...sorry we don't have omg in Brazil ;__; ) and when I watched the OVAs for a second time I really loved it /o/
I mean, the OMG Manga doesn't really have many long stories, right? it's usually one lil story per chapter, telling one event for each day of keiichi and belldandy's life (generally, of course), despite the many arcs.
that's nice if you are able to develop the story in many mangas like omg (28 and counting). but if you use so many little stories on shorter mangas, like ones with just 4 or 5 volumes, it would have the effect of just filling the pages up. but in omg, that's different. it's just my opinion, but for me, a relationship has those major events (wedding, first kiss, first fight, etc) which are very important, but the simple and everyday life is also of the same importance. it's just my interpretation, but that's what all those short stories in OMG represent. every little detail of the life during a relationship such as keiichi's with belldandy should be considered and TOLD, because that's the importance every single event in a couple's life should have \o/
so what's my point, you might ask. and why the heck haven't I posted this in the manga section? XD well, I doubt that an anime will be able to have this same impact as 28 volumes of manga, and i even fear that it will be shrunk so much that many who haven't read the manga won't be able to gain much interest for the anime.
well, ok, the anime has a few things that attract people, which mangas can't. the animated action, hearing the voices of the seiyuus, the soundtrack (which I don't think should be anything below incredible)... but still, I'd say that the essence of OMG is the romance so I still worry.
Dragon Ball had hundreds of episodes and came out about the same as the manga, and i think it failed poorly at that XD it just was too many eps /o/ and X Tv was just too short for all of the incredible plot /o/
I really hope that they decide to make at least 50 eps! 26 is just too short for OMG... and maybe 50 too. but will people regardless of the manga like 50 eps of everyday life? or will they decide on only telling the longer thrilling arcs, so that people get interested? but then the essence of omg would be partially deteriorated... well it's just what I think.
however, I'm still dying to get my hands on the omg anime, as soon as it comes out XD good, excellent, bad or poor, I'll still love it, cuz it's OMG (lil addicted)
and one more thing.
as to the ending of OMG...
I don't know what is better:
a) leave an open ending
b) end OMG the same way as the manga
c) end OMG differently from the manga
I certainly would feel like something was missing if I watched the anime and it didn't come to a conclusion, should the anime end before or after the mangas finish.
and if the anime finished up omg the same way as the manga, it would really be a pain to read/watch one knowing how it all ends XD
and if OMG ends differently as anime or manga, that would mean having 2 different plots, or the characters having 2 different reactions to the same situation (X movie and X tv). I really think that's bad for a series, because for me, each character has a life of it's own. each manga (story) has a world of it's own. I wouldn't like to see a Keiichi different from the manga on the anime. I wouldn't like to see 2 different Belldandies either, or skuld or urd or peorth... oh well.
but as already mentioned in this topic, maybe the best would be to finalize OMG with a great movie! maybe leaving both manga and anime with open endings... dunno
well that's it =)
hope you guys didn't fall a sleep reading XD
