I, unfortunately, have yet to see any of it, except for screen cuts and what others have said about it. But they seem to be doing a good job, within the limits of TV anime.
I've come to the conclusion Mr. Ghoda is synthesizing both the manga and the OAVs into this new production. While sticking far more closely to the original manga than the OAVs did, they are also incorperating elements unique to the OAVs as well.
Some examples...
First, the implication that Belldandy is waiting for Keiichi to call. That fits with the OAV, but was never implied in the manga. (That his actual wish and its consequences were unplanned and come as a surprise to Bell is perfectly acceptable in either version.)
Second, the date Belldandy comes through the mirror appears to be early January acording to some sources. That puts the TV anime as starting about halfway between the manga (October) and the OAVs (February/March). A possible compromise.
Third, an effort was made to incorperate elements of the OAV version into the mostly manga based coming to live in the Temple sequence, primarily Belldandy restoring the temple buildings and the two of them going shopping for what they'll need if they're going to live there.
I suspect Megumi will show up in either of the next two episodes and Urd is supposed to arrive in episode eight. I also suspect this first series will end with the Terrible Master Urd arc. It would make an exciting last few episodes, Bell's "confession" to Keiichi would be a good cap on the developement of their relationship that Mr. Ghoda wants to put his emphasis on, and it also marks a turning point in the developement of the manga storyline as well.
Just some thoughts and observations.

I'm loving the new tv series. The pace is just so much faster, I was really frustrated by the manga in how it took so many volumes for Belldandy to even realize Keiichi liked her. Does anyone know how long the series will be? Hopefully not just 26 episodes, I wanna be in for the long haul. Though, I really hope Mr. Ghoda will put the development of Belldandy and Keiichi's relationship in the spotlight and make some development, since the manga has been out for around 15 years, and they've just gotten close enough for holding hands comfortably, not even hugging or anythign else . So, I hope for a bit of action, but I have high hopes for this anime!
