When do you think Kosuke Fujishima's art represents his charcters best?

I'm not sure to understand what you mean, but I think that Kosuke Fujishima's art represents his characters best when they are in emotionals moods. Like when they are angry or loving.. the eyes, the details in the drawing, seem to be a lot more present when such situations happen.

WaterSoul I Think that he means what ARC is the best. Hmm I like the last one... SINGING COMPETITION ARC or BLUE LANCE (TSUKAI) ARC

I'd probably have to say from the Trials of Morisato Arc to the Traveler Arc

I thought the 4th Goddess arc is where the character designs hit there peak. Fujishima-sensei's background art remains awesome!

It's very interesting... you'd almost think Mr. Fujishima has taken a sabbatical and had guest artists that change every few volumes.^^;
But anyway, I like different arcs' art for different reasons.
I like the proportions for the current arcs. They're almost human!! But the eyes have lost a bit of their capacity for displaying emotion. They're more blank and almost have a glazed look.
The earlier arcs had more expressive eyes and it kinda disappoints me to see that gone, especially for some characters. Urd's eyes really made her stand out in earlier arcs. I'm thinking as far back as the DH Miss Keiichi. Her's were definitely more mischievous and very catlike. Now, her's and Peorth's are almost the same... at least from what I remember... I don't have any volumes by the computer.^^; But in that particular volume and the "art arc" there, the proportions weren't particularly great. I remember the arms and legs being extremely skinny to the point that they looked very frail and more unattractive than not. He's also improved on drawing hands. Not to say that there weren't some nice pictures earlier on... one particular picture where either Demon Urd or Goddess Urd is summoning lightning comes to mind.. it also had neat perspective, too. But a lot of the hands/finger positions in that arc looked a little deformed.^^;
Oh.. and another thing I don't like about the latest style... it's also like this in the movie. The front views of the faces look very flat. Does this bug anyone else?^^; I think it may be the way the noses are drawn (or aren't drawn... sometimes the noses are almost nonexistant) or the placement of the eyes, if the face is slightly turned.
Hmm... I got kinda nit picky (what a gross saying... eww... nits...) but I do really enjoy the series and think that the art is gorgeous.

Meep! I know what you mean. I don't like that about his style that much... but in the manga is not that flat as the movie, in my opinion....... I guess. lol What I do like about his latest style is the body expressions. I love how he draws bodies! Pretty realistic ^_^.
I think I didn't say what is the best period of art... lol. Or maybe I didn't put it pretty obvious: is the lastest arcs that have been released. The only thing, in my opinion, that doesn't change that much is the Goddesses' sense of style: although it changes through the ages, they have quite a good fashion sense. ;D

I like the eyes more "cat-like" as already said =) and when the nose wasn't just a dot or two.
I really think that the art on vol 28 is outstanding. but I feel like EVERY SINGLE drawing of Belldandy has become a poster for publicity!
I had it much better when the drawing was more, i dunno, humble... and belldandy looked less farfetched and simpler...

Well, if you're talking about his artwork quality in character designs right now is his best period (In Ah! My Goddess). If you're talking about character personalities and such, it's not Ah! My Goddess at all. You're Under Arrest definitely showcased just how good he could be. A masterpiece series (and his one that surpassed, and still is mind you, better than Ah! My Goddess) which made him as popular as he is today. Pretty much around the time Noriko got "ultra-annoying" was his absolute best work.

It's very interesting... you'd almost think Mr. Fujishima has taken a sabbatical and had guest artists that change every few volumes.^^; Fujishima-sensei is constantly tweaking the character designs. Les has done an excellent job documenting their changes over the years. For me, I don't like the look of Belldandy, Urd, or Skuld from a front-on view. From the side profile, they still look great but from the front, there's something not quite right to me. Part of it is in the possitioning of the eyes and part of it is the lack of a nose. To be fair, I didn't have a problem with Rind or Peorth though. But as I said earlier, the 4th Goddess Arc is my favorite for character designs. I thought the megami looked the hottest there.

Seeing as all I have Manga wise is A!MG colours, I would have to say the art looks best in Urds story (when she gets turned into a child again). Wait I think it also looks nice on Skulds story also (she was with her 1st love was it??, er you know, that boy on the bike).
Are these stories around the same period in the manga??
