I was wondering how ppl feel about Keiichi. Do you like him, dislike him, or completely ignore him. He is my favorite character partially because he is ignored by many fans and takes a backseat to the goddesses in most fans eyes. (Not that I can't understand that ofcourse!^_^) Anyway I was wondering what your opinions are of K1,he is the main character after all but he rarely gets threads concerning him! (it's ok if you hate his guts )

Keiichi is to Oh/Ah! My Goddess as Bob Neuhart was to the Bob Neuhart show, or if your old enough, Jack Benny was to his show. He's the everyman common sort who's always at the center of the chaos around him. His responses to situations are the ones we can relate to the best.
The story is ultimately centered around him, without him Belldandy wouldn't be there and without Belldandy most of the rest wouldn't be involved.
I personally like the character, he's someone I could hang out with, and I've come to the conclusion that Mr. Morisato has surprises coming, both to himself and to us.

he's a nice guy... but at least in the beginning he didn't deserve belldandy
he tried to watch a porn tape XD come on....
with a goddess at home you watch porn tapes?
he could help clean the house, do something for her while she's out buying the groceries... (to later on cook him dinner) but not watch porn tapes...
but still, there are too little of those good guys like keiichi in this world. hope many can look up to him... it'd make the world a better place

well he wasn't getting any action from Belldandy and if he didn't 'relieve stress' he would never be able to get a decent night's sleep in that house!lol Actually whenever K1 offers to help with chores Belldandy refuses, I doubt a nice guy like K1 would just ignore it and let her do al the work. Besides if worse comes to worse she can always use her magic to do the chores.

Besides if worse comes to worse she can always use her magic to do the chores. well that's true but still, if he wasn't getting any action with Belldandy, I think he should not waste time with porn tapes, but try moving a step further with Belldandy (yknow, trying to at least kiss her without it having to be an acident or something) . And at least, if you want to j*rk off for 'releasing' someting built up, i don't think it would be nice to do it watching some very *friendly* person from a video tape XD oh well =P but everybody makes mistakes \o/ this remembers me of when he got all happy when a wind blew and a girl's skirt was lifted XD and right in front of belldandy too /o/ he recognized that was bad but... bah, belldandy's too nice to him XD but it's normal in japanese anime for the girl never to mind much if the boy is a pervert, as long as he doesn't really do anything with other girls =P

My opinions on Keiichi:
In most respects Keiichi is, or has become, what several fans have rightly called a "human equivalent of a male Belldandy." Certainly there are many differences, but the underlying similarity in their natures is one thing that allows Bell and Keiichi to get along so well, and at the same time hampers their relationship's speed of progress.
Like Bell, Keiichi is extremely humble and selfless. He almost never tries to do anything simply for his own benefit, and he is always thinking about how others (especially Belldandy) might feel or think if he did a certain action. Of course, his lack of confidence means he goes to unnecessary extremes in this, and unfortunately some of his friends (i.e Tamiya and Otaki) take unfair advantage of Keiichi's gracious nature.
Perhaps Keiichi's ability to forgive is one of his best features, as well as one that really mirrors Belldandy. One need only look at how he forgave Velsper. His sense of empathy and sympathy is incredible. Despite Velsper trying kill Keiichi twice and seperate him from Belldandy, in the end Keiichi felt very sorry for Velsper, to the point that Peorth had to tell him to try not to worry about him, and even admired how much Velsper sacrificed to remember and be with Belldandy. Then, knowing full well that the cat he sees is Velsper, he actually makes the first move in suggesting that they keep the cat at their home.
We get a much more detailed look at how Keiichi thinks than we tend to with the other characters, and this can sometimes lead to conclusions that contradict those I made above. However, I retort that the majority of these exceptions are only in his random thoughts and as they don't surface into actions or even serious thoughts they don't go against his nature described above. After all, I'll bet even Belldandy's thoughts sometimes don't match well with what she ends up doing. ^_^
In relation to this is Keiichi's incredible devotion to Belldandy (and to a lesser but still incredible extent to the other goddesses and various loved ones), and hsi remarkable patience. In his heart Keiichi is devoted to Belldandy 100%, and has made it clear in the anime, manga and movie that he is willing to wait forever for her, to keep loyal and loving her even if he never sees her again. If one needs to understand the nature of truest love, one need only look at his relationship with Belldandy.
Similarly admirable is his love for her sisters. Despite Skuld's frequent (thankfully becoming less so at last) abuse, he is always kind and polite with her (except right when she is squirting him with water or some other such annoyance). And despite Urd's frequent disasterous meddling, he seems to recognize her good intentions, and over time has come to rely on her as someone to talk to and get advice from, even seeing her as an older sister of sorts (he actually calls her "sis" in one scene in the manga).
If Keiichi has a flaw it is that his self-control isn't quite what Beldlandy's usually is. While his heart may be 100% devoted to her, his eyes are probably only about 90% devoted. One can hardly blame him though, he lives a life plagued by sexual frustration and frequent events that thrust him into one compromising position after another. Of course, things will likely improve, indeed they have already in various ways.
Keiichi's often severe lack of self-esteem and corresponding confidence may be seen as a flaw, but these aspects of him seem to provide more benefits than disadvantages, enabling him to be more humble and selfless. Keiichi simply isn't a very assertive guy, unless someone he loves is in danger, and he probably never will be, though undoubtedly his self-esteem and confidence will improve over time as it has already.
All in all Keiichi is about the greatest guy anyone could hope to meet, and more than deserving of the love of so many goddesses.

I pretty much agree with your profile of Keiichi, with the additional aspect of how scared he is of losing Belldandy.
I feel that's one of the major reasons for why he's not pursuing a more physical relationship. He's scared of doing something that would cause her to be recalled to the heavens, so he's not going to make any first moves without some sort of higher up approval, either from Belldandy or Urd, (or other source he thinks is in the know).
I also feel that his calling Urd "Sis" was an important moment. It marks the first time he takes both a familial and a dominant position with Urd, treating her as one he has a right to (gently) order about. And the fact that Urd accepted the situation (with her normal good graces) is even more telling. Family dynamics are definitely being established in the temple.
Another sign of the other goddesses acceptance of Keiichi as family is their growing tendency (as first demonstrated in a major way in the Sora Hasegowa arc) to just jump in and "help" Keiichi (and his family) whenever they feel he's going to need it. Much like they did for Belldandy in the earlier chapters.
(We also see in the cover up to Urd's kiss the healthy respect everyone has for Belldandy's power.)

Hands down, Keiichi is my favorite OMG character. Simply put, noone takes a physical/mental beating like Keiichi does, yet he always seems to emerge with a smile on his face & an upbeat attitude. The ending of vol 189 is testament to this!

Keiichi is definitely likeable. I'm always surprised at how Keiichi is often termed a "loser". Come on, the guy races motorcycles and the way he dresses just looks cooler as the years go by. He's a nice guy with a self esteem problem in the beginning of the series, but his confidence improves dramatically by the movie and a few volumes into the manga. He's also a good leader.
The only area where he's still lacking is in his fear of physical intimacy. I'm not talking sex, here. Holding hands, hugs, and snuggling with Bell-chan on the couch would be fine.

This applies to the chapter 193 thread as well.
If you haven't realized it, Keiichi's response to being put on the spot by Chihiro is very similar to how his father would react. (Remember Keima?) He was Keiichi's first male role model and will have had the greatest influence on how his son deals with romance.
One of my conclusions from the Parent's arc was that Takano must have been the instigator of that marriage (if they are married), deciding that Keima was the man for her and then backing him into a spot where he had to admit he loved her. We may have a similar condition with Keiichi and Bell.
While not as bad as his father, K-1 is also prone to panic attacks around pretty girls and romantic decisions. So voluntarially just saying out loud "I love you" could be hard for him unless the mood is just right. The parents arc revealed a lot about Keiichi and Megumi, I'm still discovering aspects that might be important.

It would be fun if Bell takes a hand in backing Keiichi into that corner (visions of the infamous pocky-eating panels some to mind). I don't really expect it, but it would be lots of fun.
